Breeder Info: Toreth-Indium c/o Léo Washburn

Breed(s): Cardigan Welsh Corgi

Léo Washburn and Mark Thorson are from Washington and breed Cardigan Welsh Corgis. My partner and I prioritize health and temperaments. The parents are cleared of any known health issues associated with Cardigans and we test for things many breeders do not. If at all possible we have the entire litter's hearing and vision tested by qualified veterinarians. We test for genetic diseases as much as possible. We x-ray for hip and elbow dyplasia. Only dogs that pass are used in our breeding program. Dogs have regular eye exams by a licensed ophthalmologist. So far none have had any hereditary eye issues. ***When asked why my Bred with H.E.A.R.T icon was missing I received this note from AKC: "The Breeder of Merit icon takes first precedence over the Bred with H.E.A.R.T. icon. Both will not be listed. For your ads you should be listed under BOM." *** The puppies are kept up-to-date on vaccines and deworming, as well as microchipped. They will have appointments to have their eyes and hearing checked so we are certain about anything that might be going on with these things. There doesn't seem to be any issues with these parents, but we like to be sure. We spend a lot of time socializing the puppies. We follow the basic elements of the "Puppy Culture" protocol. (See their website https://www.puppyculture.com/ for more info. As of March 2017, we are the only Cardigan Welsh corgi breeder listed on their "WORLDWIDE BREEDER MAP" {see https://shoppuppyculture.com/pages/breeder-world-map}) They are introduced to leashes, "come" and "sit" commands using positive reinforcement training. We also introduce them to crates and car rides. Most take these things in stride by the time they leave with their new owners. We have a litter box they use from the time they are three weeks old. This usually makes potty training a snap. We work them through their fear stages (typically around 5 weeks and then again at about 8 weeks) and make sure they can handle the usual things life can bring. We don't let them go to their new homes until they are 9-10 weeks of age. We are available as a resource for you for the life of the puppy. Together my partner and I have 40 years of training experience and we have a huge network of Cardigan people we learn from and can turn to to help you answer questions as they arise for as the dogs are with you. We are expecting two litters to be born mid-May and possibly another later in the summer. Puppies will not go to their new homes until about 10 weeks of age. If you are interested in a Toreth-Indium puppy or adult, please take some time and email us and we can get to know each other better. Tell us as much about yourselves as you can. Where do you live? How old are you? Do you own your own home? If not do you have permission from the property owner to get a puppy? Is there a fenced yard? What is your level of experience with dogs, particularly herding breeds? What kind of activities do you like to do with your dogs? Do you work and if so how long will the puppy be home alone? What is your current state of health? Do you have children/grandchildren and what are their ages? Would you consider a fluffy (longer hair)? Anything you can think of that you think I should know. You can find more about us on Facebook. You do not need to have a Facebook account to view updates. https://www.facebook.com/torethcardiganwelshcorgis/ https://www.facebook.com/IndiumCardigans/ We look forward to hearing from you.
